Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the app MealRoll ("the app", "we") collects, uses, and protects personal data. The data controller is:

1. What Data We Collect
We only collect data that is necessary for the app's functionality:
a) Location Data
With your consent, the app accesses your approximate and precise location (GPS) to find and display restaurants near you. Location is used only at the time of search. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the app will continue to function without location-based results.
b) Camera and Microphone
To verify cooked meals ("cook-proof"), the app may, with your consent, use the camera and microphone to record a short video clip (approx. 10 seconds) or photos. This recording serves solely to confirm that a meal has been prepared.
Automated (AI) image analysis: Meal photos and video frames you submit for verification, and photos you attach to posts, are analyzed by an AI model to check that they show real food. For this purpose the images are transmitted to our server infrastructure and processed by an AI service (Amazon Web Services / Anthropic Claude, operating as our processor). The images are used only for this check and for the content you chose to publish; they are not used to train AI models. The check is a supportive quality measure — no decision with legal effect is based solely on it, and you can contact support to contest a verification result.
c) Photos
With your consent, you can select or take photos of your meals from your photo library to share them in the app and in the social feed.
d) Account and Usage Data
When you create an account or use the social features (feed, posts, comments, likes, stories, follows, blocks, reports), we store the content you provide and an associated identifier. Your profile can include a username, display name, bio, profile picture and — for age verification — your date of birth (never shown publicly and not readable by other users).
d2) Direct Messages
Messages you exchange with other users are stored on our servers so they can be delivered across devices. Access is restricted to the conversation participants. Blocking a user prevents further messages in both directions.
d3) Purchases
When you buy a subscription or one-time purchase, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and managed through RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) as our subscription-management processor. We never see or store your payment details; we only receive the entitlement status (which plan is active).
e) Advertising Identifiers, Consent and Tracking
The app displays advertising via Google AdMob. Device and advertising-related identifiers may be processed to deliver and measure advertising. In the EEA/UK you are first asked for consent via Google's consent dialog (UMP); on iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency dialog additionally asks whether the advertising identifier may be used. If you decline, the app works exactly the same and you see non-personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Legal & About → Ad & privacy settings (and iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking).
2. How We Use the Data
We use the collected data exclusively to:
- Display restaurants near you,
- Provide app features (recipe rolling, cooking verification, social feed),
- Operate, improve, and troubleshoot the app,
- Display advertising to finance the free use of the app.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Disclosure to Third Parties
To provide the app, we use the following service providers that process data on our behalf:

Disclosure to other third parties occurs only when we are legally obligated to do so.
4. Storage, Security and International Transfers
Your data is stored for as long as necessary for the stated purposes; when you delete your account, your profile, posts, photos, messages and other personal data are deleted (see 5). We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data.
Some of the service providers listed above process data on servers outside the EU/EEA (in particular in the USA). Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability. You may object to processing.
You can delete your account directly in the app at any time: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, posts, photos, messages, saved recipes and progress data. You can also export your data in the app (Settings → Data export).

6. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be published at this location; the date above will be adjusted accordingly.
